It is with great sadness to announce that Ernie has lost his battle against cancer. Ernie was such an infectious person that you couldn’t help enjoy being around him, he had a passion not just for football but for life. He lived every day with real drive and commitment and always with a smile.
The level of support Ernie has received over the last 6 months just shows the respect he had with not only his friends & family but also the fans & players he played with.
To the the very end he fought every single round. He may be gone but he leaves behind more than an obituary in a newspaper or a simple epitaph, he leaves behind a shining example of how to live life to the full and embrace everything.
An ordinary man with extraordinary determination, Ernie you’ll be sadly missed my friend but not forgotten.
